**The role**
The Project Officer role supports the delivery of impactful projects focused on strengthening local councils’ workforce sustainability. You’ll help manage a $252.2 million initiative aiming to increase local government apprenticeships, traineeships, and cadetships by 15%, addressing skills gaps in essential trades and professions. Key responsibilities include preparing reports, maintaining project documentation, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive legislative and policy reforms.

This role balances tight deadlines, limited resources, and competing priorities, requiring you to identify emerging challenges, propose practical solutions, and ensure projects meet their quality and timeline goals. By enabling clear procedures and effective communication, you’ll help councils build resilient, well-trained teams for the future.

**Workforce Development Function** - For this role we are looking for someone who has exceptional customer experience skills as this role is customer centric with a strong focus on collaboration with local councils. Someone who has strong workforce development skills and that can work to tight deadlines.

**Who are OLG?**
The Office of Local Government is the NSW Government agency responsible for strengthening the sustainability, performance, integrity, transparency and accountability of the local government sector.

OLG has a policy, legislative, investigative and program focus in regulating the State’s 128 local councils. The agency also works collaboratively with the local government sector to support local councils to deliver for their local communities.

OLG, which is part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, is the key adviser to the NSW Government on local government matters.
