Data Analyst

**Employment type**: Two term (temporary) roles available - 12 months

**Salary**: $74,315 - $77,901 pa (ASO4 classification level) plus Superannuation

The Auditor-General's Department is the independent auditor of the South Australian public sector. The department reports directly to the South Australian Parliament on the audits of the finances, systems and processes of both state and local government agencies.

**About the role**:
The Data Analytics team is a small, energetic group with diverse skillsets and a strong strategic focus. We work on various project types, including establishing and managing automated data collections and completing audit and corporate analytics work. We also build and maintain data analytics apps and support analytics learning and development initiatives.

Data analytics is becoming increasingly important across various aspects of our organisation. We are seeking to grow the Data Analytics team to support our longer-term ambitions and further unlock the value of our data. Our goals include using more automated tools and techniques to improve our audit approaches, establishing advanced analytics capabilities and exploring new reporting approaches to improve transparency.

As a Data Analyst in this team, you will use your professional skills and knowledge to prepare, analyse and report results from various analytics projects. Using data analytics and visualisation tools, you will identify and interpret trends and patterns in complex datasets while also assessing and improving data quality.

Some of the analytics projects you will be involved with include work to support specific financial statement and performance audits, general audit planning processes and developing models to validate financial and system datasets. As we seek to grow data analytics capabilities further in the department, you will also assist to promote the use of data analytics in other teams.

**About you**:
**To be successful in this role, you will need to**:

- have **experience in using data analytics and visualisation tools** (eg. Tableau or Power BI) to model, analyse and interpret different types of data to meet business objectives
- be able to **communicate** clearly (verbally and in writing) with various stakeholders
- demonstrate **excellent problem-solving skills**:

- be committed to **continuous learning in the emerging data analytics field**.

***Essential requirements**:

- Be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident, at the time of applying.

**Specific requirements**:

- Ability to hold an Australian Government security clearance if required.
