The Resilience and Recovery Division provides leadership, coordination, direction and advice for the development and management of disaster resilience and recovery planning, policy, funding, and supports its operational implementation prior to and post disaster events.
The policy team within this division are responsible for overarching policy and strategies that are fit-for-Queensland and informed by emerging national and international best practice. The team coordinate the development of recovery, resilience and flood risk management policy and coordinate the implementation of key initiatives to strengthen the resilience of Queensland communities. In this role you will:
- Support the development and implementation of resilience and recovery policy that aligns with national and international policy and emerging trends.
- Provide accurate and timely advice to the Manager, Director, senior management team and key stakeholders on strategic policy and operational matters in relation to resilience, risk reduction and mitigation, and recovery policy.
- Prepare timely and accurate briefings for executive leadership, partner agencies and state and national committees.
- Liaise with, provide advice and respond appropriately to internal and external stakeholders on matters that relate to resilience and recovery policy objectives.
- Provide project support across resilience, risk reduction, funding and mitigation to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Undertake research, environmental scanning and analysis on cross-jurisdictional, national and international approaches to specific recovery, resilience, risk reduction, and mitigation issues, seeking to identify emerging trends.
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence.
- Represent the organisation at meetings, committees and interdepartmental working groups as required.
