Adelaide Region SA, Australia Hender Consulting Full time

The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI) is an independent not-for-profit organisation working across Australia to bring people, communities and organisations together to collectively tackle the nation’s toughest social challenges and build the futures that all Australians deserve. Unique in Australia, TACSI is an R&D organisation focused on the development of new and better social systems, policy, services and supports that put people’s best interests at the heart. Starting as a small team based in a single state 12 years ago, TACSI has undergone significant growth with teams now based in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne tackling challenges such as mental ill health, housing and community resilience.

This newly created position exists to steward the operations and growth of TACSI in support of strategy and mission. Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors and operations team (finance, marketing, HR, organisational culture and development) the COO will connect widely with stakeholders including Directors, Principals and project teams. TACSI is a networked organisation, with a non-traditional structure and a hierarchy-one model that aims to enable transparency, adaptivity, creativity, connectivity and leadership across the entire organisation. Key areas of responsibility will include:

- consolidating and overseeing further growth and development of operations, processes and routines for scaling of impact;
- championing and actively contributing to organisational culture that is human, flexible, inclusive and supportive of TACSI’s ambitions;
- coordinating and leading day to day operations including hands on support to key operational staff and leaders;
- actively holding and responding to the organisation’s key risks and compliance obligations.

TACSI is a fast-paced environment employing people from diverse backgrounds, disciplines and experiences. Applications are welcomed from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, mature-age people and people with disability, regardless of sex, sexuality or gender identity.

This position will suit an appropriately qualified senior executive who can demonstrate a successful track record as a COO, head of shared services or comparable role in a multi-faceted environment. The ability to think and act strategically whilst also provide hands on support will be a key consideration for the role. Other important qualities include attention to detail, collaborative and adaptive leadership behaviours, strategic thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills. Awareness of social issues and a genuine passion for creating social impact will be necessary for cultural fit in this organisation.

This is a rare opportunity to join a vital entity in a pivotal role for its ongoing growth and impact. The position is based in Adelaide. An attractive senior remuneration package including salary sacrificing benefits will be offered to secure an accomplished professional.
