About the opportunity:

We're seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our department as
Manager, Office of the Chief Executive
— a pivotal role supporting the Director for the Office of the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely and effective executive and ministerial services. You will manage critical parliamentary and cabinet processes and build strong partnerships across government.

In this high-impact position, you will provide expert advice, lead a high-performing team, and act as a key liaison between the department, ministerial office and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of government operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex priorities in a dynamic environment.

The Office of the Chief Executive
is responsible for delivering professional, strategic and responsive executive support services to the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership team and wider department. The team drives the strategic priorities and objectives of the department and government. The Office of the Chief Executive plays a vital role in stakeholder engagement and is the interface with ministerial offices and agencies across government, ensuing the timely and accurate delivery of information and advice. The Office of the Chief Executive leads the department's ministerial, Parliament and Cabinet functions, and co-ordinates the department's whole of government reporting requirements.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Significant ability to plan, program and coordinate work, manage risk and make informed decisions in an environment characterised by high volumes of work, competing deadlines and time pressures.
  • Comprehensive experience in Cabinet, Ministerial, Parliamentary and inter-governmental processes including briefings, Cabinet submissions and providing advice at ministerial or senior executive levels.
  • Proven experience communicating to different audiences using a variety of mediums and, experience in writing a range of documents for executives and ministers that are clear, succinct, accurate and timely to achieve intended objectives or outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong leader who influences, advises and supports senior leaders on complex matters and delivers high level projects.

Remuneration:

ASO7 salary range $108,109 - $116,864 per annum + superannuation

Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week

Special Conditions:

This position is classified as a designated position and as such, appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance screening check.
