**Title**:Manufacturing Lead - Green Fleet Development
**Work location**: Perth based (Hazelmere)
**Roster**: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
- In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet_
- Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Advanced Manufacturing Manager - Green Fleet, we are presently looking for multiple _**_Manufacturing Leads_**_. The roles will be instrumental in developing the manufacturing strategy and delivering on the roadmap to industrialisation and maturing the organisation in terms of manufacturing business process development. _
**_Key accountabilities will include:_**
- Providing leadership and oversight for all Advanced Manufacturing activities in support of Green Fleet projects, project machines & product industrialisation strategy, including developing a manufacturing strategy for best-in-class scaling.
- Develop the Manufacturing business case activities for nominated projects (incl. modelling of inputs), “make versus buy” analysis on individual sub-systems, components etc.
- Supporting Portfolio Delivery Managers with the development of the overarching Project Road Maps (part of which are the production pathways)
- Working across all FFI project teams, identify best practice standardised production system(s) which uses a common approach across the various manufacturing locations. Ensure Green Fleet manufacturing project uses common practices to other FFI projects.
- Ensure business cases are prepared with a clear path to supporting Aftermarket execution and commercialisation.
- Recruiting and growth of the Manufacturing teams for the assigned project.
- Aligning and synchronising the Supply Chain and Manufacturing plans, systems & processes to ensure both supply chain and production facilities are fit for purpose, and seamlessly hand over to the Aftermarket functions.
- Supporting the development of PFMEA, control plans, SOP’s, MBOM’s and work instructions for identified machines & products.
- Implementing best practice Industry 4.0 techniques, working within a digitally driven organisation.
- Sourcing and managing line integrators and equipment providers to achieve plant design and implementation required to support the assigned project.
- Performing staff appraisals of all direct reports and develop action plans to develop staff competence, training and capability.
**_ Qualifications and skills required:_**
- An experienced manufacturing operations’ professional, with demonstrated leadership of manufacturing facilities from inception / start-up through to fully launched plant, with proven ability to start from a blank sheet of paper.
- Proven experience in rail, mining equipment, high voltage control systems and businesses with a strong track record of product innovation is an advantage in this role.
- A background in Lean manufacturing (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen), including hands-on experience in Automation delivery and establishing best in class facilities including IOT digital manufacturing.
- Manufacturing-based business process leadership experience, driving a culture of broader business improvement outside of operations.
- Knowledge of assembly processes (welding, adhesive, robotic assembly, automated lines, manual assembly), including complex electromechanical products (e.g power systems, power-electronics, battery pack etc.)
- Excellent programme management skills
- demonstrated portfolio management capability.
- Technical degree preferable (STEM or Operational management)
- Post graduate management studies beneficial.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills with knowledge and experience to mentor others in the use of disciplined problem-solving tools (e.g 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, SOP’s)
- Experienced in implementing APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
- Knowledge of iPLM systems (Integrated Product Lifecycle Management)
- Knowledge of statistical techniques (MSA, Acceptance Sampling, Process Capability, Statistical Process Control, Gauge R & R,)
