**About the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education**
The Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (Melbourne CSHE) is a leading national and international centre for higher education research and has significant responsibility for the provision of professional development for staff in teaching and learning across the University of Melbourne.
While based within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, the Melbourne CSHE supports the professional development of University of Melbourne staff through its suite of programs, activities and resources. The Lecturer will make an active contribution to professional development of staff by coordinating and contributing to the professional development programs and events run by the Centre; and developing stand-alone resources for professional development. The Lecturer will be expected to draw on the latest educational policy and research in the contribution to professional development programs, activities and resources. It is expected that the Lecturer will undertake research in one of the Centre’s research priority areas.
The Lecturer will be actively involved in all activities of the Centre and be engaged across the University. This role reports to the Deputy Director of the Melbourne CSHE.
**About the Role**
While based within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, the Melbourne CSHE supports the professional development of University of Melbourne staff through its suite of programs, activities and resources. The Lecturer will make an active contribution to professional development of staff by co-ordinating and teaching into award and non-award programs offered by the Centre; running seminars and workshops for staff; contributing to professional development events run by the Centre; and developing stand-alone resources for professional development. The Lecturer will be expected to draw on the latest educational policy and research in the contribution to professional development programs, activities and resources. It is expected that the Lecturer will undertake research in teaching and learning.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and delivering programs and seminars, including online, blended and flexible delivery methods;
- Initiating, developing and reviewing professional development programs;
- Assisting in ongoing professional development of colleagues and support sessional staff, as necessary
**About You**
You are an experienced teacher with an ability to undertake program coordination duties and provide specialised support to academic divisions. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to work collaboratively and constructively within teams, including broad multidisciplinary teams. A broad knowledge and expertise enables you to provide a strong contribution to professional developing in university teaching and learning across a wide range of programs. Ideally you will also have strong digital literacy and experience in community engagement with a capacity to build local and international networks and partnerships.
You will also have:
- A doctoral degree completed in higher education or cognate discipline
- Knowledge of contemporary theoretical and policy debates and practice within higher education
- Ability to demonstrate excellence in university teaching and learning
- To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check._
