About the Project
The Department of Transport, has contracting relationships with our major train and tram operators - Yarra Trams & Metro Trains Melbourne, managed on behalf of the Victorian Government. DoT is establishing a new project team, which will be comprehensively reviewing the State's franchise framework.
About the Opportunity
This role will be required to lead the legal work stream and work closely with the internal and external legal, technical and commercial advisors and the broader project team to deliver on the project objectives. This includes accountability for providing legal and strategic advice and developing a contracting framework for the proposed future model.

**Qualifications**:
Mandatory
- A relevant tertiary qualification in law is mandatory, as well as a current legal practicing certificate for Victoria.
- A minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years in government legal services with experience in providing legal advice in relation to the implementation of government initiatives
- Demonstrated experience working on major commercial projects in either public and/or private sectors, including experience with a range of procurement models
- Knowledge of the relevant legislative background and experience with different models of franchising, alliances and procurement in the Government sector
- Knowledge of Government policy, administrative and decision-making processes.
