We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven **Finance Officer** to join our Operations team. Reporting directly to the **Chief Executive Officer**, this role is a key part of the engine room that keeps Aligent running smoothly. You’ll have a hand in everything from payroll to budgeting and forecasting, systems improvements to compliance, and you'll play a vital part in our continued growth.

**What you’ll be doing**
- **Transactional Finance**: End-to-end accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll (including super, tax, offshore staff), invoicing and credit control.
- **Compliance**: Lodgement of BAS, payroll tax, Workcover, and other statutory reporting.
- **Budgeting & Forecasting**: Support the development of long-range financial plans, annual budgets, and rolling forecasts with actionable insights.
- **Reporting & Analysis**: Deliver monthly P&Ls and variance analysis and help us keep financial data clean, accurate, and useful.
- **Systems Leadership**: Be the go-to for Xero, Employment Hero, and other finance tools—driving process improvement and automation.

**What you’ll bring**:

- Relevant Tertiary Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 5-10 years’ experience in a similar finance/accounting role.
- Sound knowledge of ATO requirements, BAS, PAYG, Super, and payroll tax.
- Proficiency in Xero, Employment Hero (or similar) and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Great attention to detail and a passion for process improvement.
- A proactive mindset, high integrity, and a strong sense of ownership.
- CA/CPA qualified or working towards it.
