Mercer is pleased to present an exciting opportunity to join our successful and rising Investment Alternatives Analyst team within our Alternatives business. In this position you will have the opportunity to work as part of a global team, serving Mercer’s large discretionary and advisory institutional client base.

The role will encompass the supporting of:

- investment due diligence on Private Debt strategies and presenting the findings,
- portfolio management, construction and monitoring, and
- marketing the team’s capabilities and intellectual capital to current and prospective clients as well as the broader organisation.

**Main duties include**:

- Support a comprehensive due diligence process for evaluating and underwriting prospective debt strategies. Responsibilities will include:

- Attending manager meetings, plan due diligence, travel to on-site meetings, conduct reference calls.
- Supporting the analysis to produce research reports (both quantitative and qualitative) to summarise views on a strategy with the intention of determining an appropriate rating for a given fund.
- Develop an understanding of acceptable, market-aligned economic terms for Funds under evaluation.
- Support portfolio construction efforts, providing analytical support to the team - including portfolio planning and deal flow tracking for both our commingled funds and bespoke client portfolios.
- In time, act as a specialist resource to client-facing professionals in the broader business on all matters relating to private debt, including the provision of data and analysis and communicating the option of the broader private debt team.
- Prepare reports and presentations with relevant commentary and analytics to facilitate transparency and communication with the Investment Committee, Clients and other external parties as required.
- Support the management of current clients, in conjunction with client leads.
- Support the monitoring of all private debt funds and client portfolios under the teams remit.
- Develop and maintain materials to effectively position the asset class, investment performance and products in support of sales and client retention.
- Contribute to industry research pieces and whitepapers.

**What you need to have**:

- Strong attention to detail and organisation skills
- Ability to function in both team-based and independent activities
- A collegial, team-oriented, constructive, “can do” attitude
- Unquestioned honesty, integrity, and transparency
- Domestic and possibly international travel may be required

**What makes you stand out**:

- 2-5 years of relevant investment experience at a pension fund, insurer, endowment, foundation, consulting firm, asset manager, or fund of funds
- Prior experience in Alternative investments (private debt or credit) or manager selection is considered a plus
- An undergraduate degree from a leading institution. A CFA charterholder / post-graduate degree, or progress toward such designation is desirable
- Exceptional quantitative skills to evaluate fund and portfolio performance
