**About the role**
Ventia’s contract for the Department of Justice are seeking an engaging and supportive **People & Capability Business Partner** to join the Court Security & Custodial Services (CS&CS) team based in Canning Vale. Whilst this role is based locally, it involves occasional travel to other parts of the State, including regional areas. Because of this, you may need to stay away from home for short periods of time.
In this front facing role, your primary responsibility is to support the management team in the day-to-day life cycle and coordination of the Human Resource function. Additionally, this role provides vital support and guidance to our people leaders, to enable them to develop and become exceptional mentors and coaches themselves and deliver appropriate coordination and management of their people whilst building a positive, customer driven culture. This is a varied role which will see you managing a small team, all working at an operational level to identify, develop and implement strategies and initiatives that continually evolve and improve outcomes for our client and business goals.
**About you**
This role is part of the People and Capability team for the sector, operating in a matrix reporting structure with day-to-day reporting directly into the Contract Director. You are approachable and possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills and you naturally adopt a collaborative and team-based approach to people management. You are someone who can drive and embed best practise service delivery through the commitment of our people, to ensure project outcomes are met in a people focused yet cost-effective manner.
You possess exceptional people skills and organisational capabilities and can identify and prioritise problems and issues, generate solutions and work collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. You have a high degree of motivation, energy and initiative, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities. This resilience, coupled with your great sense of humour will contribute to your success in this role.
**Key duties but not limited to**:
- Provide HR advice to management and employees, that comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, corporate policy and ethical standards
- Lead the internal Training function to ensure ongoing quality, continual improvement, and compliance
- Champion the absence management policy and support operations
- Drive a positive and collaborative workplace culture
- Develop team leaders and take part in performance management processes as required
- Identify and produce timely management information
- Positively promote and contribute to a diverse, inclusive and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying and harassment.
- Lead and assist in managing recruitment for a governmental security cleared workforce
- Ensure all Industrial relation, Fairwork and Enterprise Agreement requirements are met on an ongoing basis.
- Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders - Ventia Corporate, Department of Justice, Western Australian Police and the relevant Union body
**Skills and experience required**:
- Demonstrated experience in resolving human resources management workplace issues, ideally for a Blue-Collar workforce
- Ability to lead a small team and leverage centralised support to ensure effective partnering
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting and complex situations in a busy operational environment
- Results focused with the ability to identify and prioritise problems and issues, generate solutions and work collaboratively to achieve a successful outcome
- Proven ability to communicate with and influence key stakeholders
- Highly developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain agile and resilient, even when facing resistance or pressure to change
