**About the team**
The Infrastructure and Place Division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease traffic congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. **The opportunity**
We have an exciting opportunity for you to be part of our **M1 to Raymond Terrace** project team based in **Newcastle**. The Commercial Manager role **(Fixed Term)** will report to the Director Commercial with responsibility for developing and implementing commercial strategies that support the delivery of this major infrastructure Project, all aspects of contract management, provision of commercial advice, financial management and compliance with internal governance obligations. The Commercial Manager will also lead a small, dedicated team of commercial and contract management specialists. This position is a leadership role operating within a matrix organisation responsible for delivering the Project within budget and time constraints.
This role will require regular travel to Newcastle for the duration of the project at adhoc times as needed by the project. We support a flexible work environment but would like our potential future employee to understand the specific requirements of the role.
**This is a fixed term role with and end date of 30th June 2028**.
**Key aspects of the role include**:
- Active participation in the development of the Project delivery strategy (including design, procurement and commercial strategy) and risk allocation to support contract development
- Leading, advising and providing recommendations to project teams on commercial strategy and contractual issues including claims management and risk mitigations (i.e. entitlement, relevant time bars, submission requirements, evaluating costs claimed etc.). Including drafting the appropriate correspondence to manage these matters effectively
- Drafting of complex and bespoke correspondence in relation to the project’s contracts, stakeholders and third parties
- Managing insurance claims based on internal procedures and TfNSW’s insurance policies and support specialist advisors in providing advice to the project on insurance matters
- Provide advice and input to Project Managers and Project Directors on the contractor’s performance, cash flow and the project budget forecast cost and actual cost performance (input into regular reporting as required)
- Chairing and leading Project & Commercial meetings (external and internal)
- Managing the contractual correspondence between TfNSW and the other contractual parties on the project
- Preparing, drafting and reviewing complex commercial approval documents in line with internal processes and delegations of authority
- Leading and managing the performance & development of any team members (contract administration staff)

**About you**
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- High level of commercial acumen gained from prior commercial leadership roles in the infrastructure sector (either from the private sector or similar government roles)
- A track record of having worked within infrastructure projects and a strong understanding of the project matrix environment
- The ability to quickly and efficiently understand the issues which arise from delivering large projects and diverse portfolios
- Strong verbal/written communication and relationship management skills with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
- Relevant tertiary qualification(s), which may include commerce, business, finance/analytics, engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, project management or law
