Participate in all rostered shifts which will include days, afternoon, overnights, weekends and public holidays.
Operation of automated and other laboratory equipment as well as equipment monitoring, cleaning and maintenance.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse role. Duties include data entry, specimen handling, processing, and technical laboratory duties
- Demonstrated ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and without supervision. Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and with members of staff.
- Demonstrated ability or ability to quickly learn to utilise Laboratory Information Systems and ieMR
- Demonstrate above average attendance and punctuality
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
- Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, procedures policies and regulations which impact on the position, the Department of Health Code of Conduct, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource.
- Management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and antidiscrimination.

Qualifications, registrations, and other requirements
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology Assistance or the equivalent would be an
- Advantage.
- While not mandatory, experience in Microbiology specimen processing would be an
- Advantage.
- The position is currently a shift position requiring the successful applicant to work weekends and evening shifts. In the future, the position may change to a continuous shift position requiring the successful applicant to participate in a 24-hour rostering system covering day, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
