Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.

Forensicare is situated across five sites across Victoria with its largest site being Thomas Embling Hospital,located in Fairfieldjust 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre.Thomas Embling Hospital is a 136-bed secure hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care programs. It includes a dedicated women’s unit.

**About the Role**:
The Family and Carer Consultant will advise management and staff about how aspects of the service may be experienced from the perspectives of carers and families. Support the promotion of rights and responsibilities of carers/families/significant others to this service. Ensure approriate information and support is available and provided to families and carers. Develop working relationships with carers and families in relation to thier individual and direct needs.

**About You**:

- Direct personal experience as a family member or carer of a person with a mental illness.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively convene, facilitate and contribute to meetings and forums.
- Understanding of the issues that families and carers may experience through involvement with the forensic mental health system.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with a range of people and organisations
