The Department of Justice and Community Safety is currently seeking a Manager, Health Information Services to provide a critical within Justice Health.
About the business unit
Justice Health's objective is to improve the health of adult and youth offenders in Victorian custodial settings. As a business unit of Corrections and Justice Services within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Justice Health oversees the delivery of health, mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services to persons in Victoria's adult and youth justice facilities by contracted service providers.
About the role
Reporting to the Director, the Manager Health Information Services is responsible for managing health records in accordance with legislative requirements. This includes developing and reviewing appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines to support the efficient and effective management of requests for health information and records for the Victorian prison system.
The Manager, Health Information Services provides leadership, direction and guidance to staff. They manage complex activities involving the preparation of reports, advice and options on professional, technical and management matters. They liaise and negotiate with other areas of the Department of Justice and Community Safety, as well as other government agencies and key stakeholders including health and legal professionals.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Act as the primary point of contact and specialist advisor for complex and sensitive Health Information requests and Complaints and responds to enquiries from staff, courts, legal representatives, health professionals and members of the public about access to health information, Freedom of Information (FOI) and privacy matters.
- Lead the response and release of health information under FOI requests, Court Orders such as Subpoenas and Witness Summons, and requests under other legislative frameworks.
- Provide expert advice to departmental staff in relation to the release and use of health information contained within Justice Health medical records.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 1982, Health Records Act 2001, Privacy & Data Protection Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.
A tertiary qualification in health management is desirable, along with project management and government experience. Knowledge of the MARAM framework and Family Violence and Child Information Sharing Schemes is also highly desirable.
