Your Impact
The Project Officer - Australian Health Practice Guide Review role is part of the Victorian Refugee Health Network (VRHN) team which sits within Foundation House’s Community and Sector Capacity Building (CSCB) Program.
The CSCB program has the objective of building the capacity of health, community and settlement services to provide more accessible and appropriate health care for people of refugee backgrounds. The Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide and the accompanying Refugee Health Assessment are part of a suite of resources to support GPs, nurses, allied health and other primary care providers in undertaking on arrival and ongoing health care for people from refugee backgrounds and people seeking asylum.
The Practice Guide was last updated in 2018 and requires review and update to incorporate new clinical investigations, recommendations and guidance under current contexts. The review will also include an update of referral information and pathways for services for people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds in respective states and territories.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Lead, the Project Officer will support the implementation of the Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide Review. This role will include project management support, secretariate duties, support for resource development review, stakeholder management and content writing/editing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide support to the Project Lead in the implementation of the project.
- Undertake desktop research requirements to support focus and prioritisation of the Guide review.
- Monitor relevant reports and emerging evidence that may impact on the delivery of the Refugee Practice Guide approach and guidelines.
- Take an active role in supporting the establishment of Topic Working Groups and the management of meetings including planning and scheduling and documentation of minutes and actions.
- Support planning and coordination of logistics for launch and promotion of updated Practice Guide to relevant refugee health and broader health sector stakeholders as required.
- Maintain the project work plans, document outcomes of work undertaken and contribute to planning and reporting requirements for the Project to ensure delivery of program goals.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders, including Topic Working Group members, relevant VRHN members, content experts and writers, and health sector partners as it relates to this project.
This is a part-time (0.6 EFT), 12-month fixed term position, based in our Brunswick office.
What you’ll need to successfully apply
To be successful, you will need to positively respond to the below selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area, preferably a health-related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues regarding quality in health care practice, and health, education and settlement services issues that impact people of refugee background.
- High level organisational management skills, project management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to achieve overall project objectives.
- Experience in conducting desk-based research and analysis of information.
- Sound reviewing, writing and editing skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills - MS Office, Excel, Adobe Acrobat design programs, web page /content management (e.g. WordPress).
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to manage productive stakeholder relationships to gain to achieve project activities.
