**About the Role**:
We are seeking a policy officer who has excellent leadership and communication skills and an eye for detail.
This role provides leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of the Schools and Student Services aligned to the Department's Equity and Excellence strategic direction priorities.

**The Principal Policy Officer will be required to**:

- Lead and participate in teams and activities to develop and implement strategic policy and initiatives.
- Contribute to the provision of high-level advice and support on policy issues, projects and activities.
- Undertake research, analysis, monitoring, review and evaluation to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
- Analyse issues and prepare accurate and timely briefs, reports, responses to correspondence and requests for information on issues at state, national and international levels.
- Establish effective internal and external networks and liaise, communicate and coordinate with key personnel to achieve required outcomes.

**What you need to succeed**:
While there are no mandatory requirements, the ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:

- Demonstrated ability to lead the review of departmental procedures, associated guidelines and resources.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice and guidance to schools, regions and external stakeholders.
- High level research skills and data analysis and management skills.
- Highly developed written, consultation and negotiation skills to allow effective liaison with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, education policies and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to develop solutions to complex issues.

The Principal Policy Officer Statewide Operations reports to the Manager - Statewide Operations.
