- Provide project support for exciting public health laboratory projects.
- Work for a leading Australian Infectious Disease Laboratory.
- Located at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity.
**Your new team**:
The Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL) provides the Victorian Department of Health with virology and mycobacteria public health reference laboratory services, including surveillance, outbreak investigations, reference testing, and research. VIDRL has national reference laboratory designations to the Commonwealth Department of Health for polio and enteroviruses, measles, viral haemorrhagic fevers, and smallpox. Demonstrating a strong commitment to international health programs, VIDRL has WHO Collaborating Centre designations for Reference and Research on Influenza, _Mycobacterium ulcerans_, and Viral Hepatitis, together with WHO Regional Reference Laboratory designations for poliovirus, measles, and hepatitis B, and is a WHO National Influenza Centre.
**Your new role**:
The Project Officer will be working on several public health laboratory projects at VIDRL. This includes supporting the laboratory strengthening project across the Pacific region, funded by DFAT. VIDRL’s laboratory strengthening project - eLABorate (Enhancing laboratory accuracy and biosafety for outbreak response in the Asia-Pacific through education), will contribute to the Doherty Institute Strategic Partnership with DFAT. Some international travel may be required. The role also includes supporting the National Polio Surveillance program.
You will:
- Work collaboratively within an internationally distributed team of multi-disciplinary partners.
- Set priorities to assist in the completion and reporting of activities and budgets.
- Support the development, management, and delivery of project workplans.
**About you**:
- You will have a tertiary qualification in public health, global health, medical science, or a related field and experience in the management of projects within one or more of these fields.
- You are an effective communicator with the ability to relate to a range of people across all levels of the organisation.
- You have excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a high level of attention to detail in planning and implementation of project activities.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally if required.
