Risk & Safety Systems Assurance Manager - New Train

The Risk and Safety Systems Assurance Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the franchisee safety assurance strategies, processes, programs relating to the X’Trapolis 2.0 new train project.

The Risk and Safety Systems Assurance Manager will oversee safety assurance deliverables from delivery partners of the project and ensure they comply with MTM business requirements.

This role is offered on a
**full-time 36 Month Max Term Contract (3 year)** basis operating out of MTMs Docklands head office. however at times will required to support work at the train Test & Commissioning and Maintenance sites on the train Network.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Build, lead and manage a team, enabling resourcing, performance, capability and wellbeing to foster a high-performance environment.
- Manage MTM’s risk and safety assurance requirements for the project
- Conduct system safety analyses such as PHA, SHA, OSHA, using techniques such as SWIFT, FMEA or HAZOP.
- Manage identified items in the project’s Hazard Logs and Safety Risk Register
- Manage the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) and ensure the work is undertaken in accordance with the ISA plan and supports the safe introduction of the new train into operation..
- Write formal system safety assurance reports and provide recommendations based on the outcomes of risk assessments.
- Write briefing notes for MTM internal Change Control Board relating to the introduction of the new train and enabling projects.
- Work with DoT and Alstom to ensure a pragmatic approach to the assurance & accreditation of the new train within the requirements of MTM Safety Management System and the expectations of the ONRSR.
- Ensure accreditation plans and safety interface agreements are implemented and maintained.
- Point of contact for DoT & ONRSR for safety assurance and accreditation maintaining a strong relationship.

**Qualification & Skills**
- A tertiary qualification in a suitable field is required i.e. Systems Engineering, Risk Management, other engineering disciplines
- Knowledge of ISO31000, EN50126 and AS/NZS 15288 is required
- Strong report writing, analytical ability and critical thinking
- Solid knowledge of and experience with computer based management reporting systems
- Relevant experience in risk management, ideally in rail or engineering
- Understanding in end-to-end cycle of a project

**Experience Criteria**
- Risk Management qualifications are desirable
- Rolling Stock and Rail experience
- Demonstrated experience at senior management level
