The Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council (ILALC) is looking for a Supervisor for their Environmental Service Team who is committed to caring for Country and pursuing a career in conservation land management.

In this role you will supervise teams to deliver environmental services, rehabilitation and regeneration of native bushland in the Illawarra Region.

**The Organisation**

The Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council (ILALC) is incorporated under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act NSW 1983 and covers an area from Helensburgh to Gerroa and includes the Southern Highlands areas from Tallong to Kangaroo Valley.

ILALC’s key role is to improve, protect and foster the best interests of its members and community. This can only be achieved through land acquisition, land management, cultural education and sustainable development and the development of programs and initiatives with positive and tangible outcomes, as led by the engagement and participation of our members and community.

**The Role**

ILALC has a Natural Resources Management team, which forms part of the Caring for Country business unit. Its primary focus is to undertake caring for Country activities such as bush regeneration, rehabilitation and other natural resources management services to a wide range of land owner stakeholders including local Councils, Government departments, businesses and private owners.

As part of this team, manage and oversee natural resource management teams to ensure all staff are delivering high quality outcomes against workplans across all caring for Country projects; and support the Environmental Services Manager on a range of deliverables.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Minimum of 5 years experience in bush regeneration and revegetation works.
- Cert III Conservation and Eco-System Management (or higher).
- Minimum 3 years experience supervising and coordinating a team in natural environment works or similar.
- Demonstrated experience of developing, implementing and reporting on project work plans for natural resource management projects, in an efficient and timely manner within budget
- Demonstrated awareness and understanding of the local Aboriginal culture and heritage and natural resources values.
- Experience in building effective relationship with Aboriginal people and communities.
- High level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and negotiation with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and complying with relevant organisational policies, WHS procedures and any other legislative requirements.
- High level of experience in the safe use of power tools, light machinery and safe handling and use of hazardous substances and chemicals.
- Demonstrated experience in IT software programs, such as GIS mapping or similar.
- Current NSW drivers' licence

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Chainsaw operation certification
- Skid Steer operation licence
- Working at heights certification
- Traffic control certification
- NSW White Card (CIC) and First Aid certificate
