As the Case Support Officer, you will specifically
- Work effectively within a statutory environment to advise and support staff across the region (as required), to identify and respond to the unique needs of young people who have or may have a disability. To assist and advise staff as they manage the dual roles of monitoring young offenders' compliance with court orders and assisting in the accessing of funding, intervention /supports aimed at responding to and addressing disability specific considerations that place them at risk of re-offending. Assist/ advise departmental staff across the region in identifying and responding to young people with a disability who are engaged with (or at risk of entering) the youth justice system. Assist in the delivery of best practice statutory casework that is responsive to considerations of disability, and as required, establish access to appropriate services or referral pathways and services available to young people. This may include working with/mentoring colleagues in the area of disability, providing information and advice or responding to a larger identified need which may include training and information sessions. To work with mínimal supervision using knowledge, assessment and intervention skills to deliver integrated and culturally appropriate services, including engaging with families, community organisations and other key stakeholders, in accordance with the legislative, policy and procedural requirements. Engage with and establish partnerships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to enable staff to achieve qualitycasework outcomes and referral pathways for the purpose of meeting a young person's disability support needs. This may include working with stakeholders to establish a greater understanding of youth justice systems and requirements. Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case records, preparation of reports, performance reporting and data entry to ensure accountability. Actively participate in training and professional development activities to develop, maintain and enhance knowledge and competencies to ensure that service delivery is based on contemporary, evidence based, best practice principles and is consistent with current practice trends and departmental objectives. Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department. Contribute to a departmental culture that ensures sensitive and effective communication with people from other cultures including people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and be responsive.
