Head of Financial Control

**About the Role**
This opportunity will see a highly experienced leader in Financial Control play an imperative role in BOQ Group's strategic transformation, as well as partnering with internal stakeholders to develop and drive an enhanced financial control environment.

As Head of Financial Control, you will play a vital role in driving harmonious working culture across the team where you are able to influence across all levels of the organisation.

Your key duties will involve:

- Manage the Financial Control environment
- Provide oversight and accountability for the month-end close cycle across both Group and stand-alone BOQ subsidiaries
- Partner and influence the Group’s business divisions and Finance business partners to deliver the financial close process in a timely manner
- Oversight of c.17 Securitised Trusts including the calculation and payment of trust distributions, BS and Bank reconciliations and month-end accounting
- Oversight of Group Hedge Accounting including month-end accounting, documentation of hedge accounting designations, de-designations, and re-designations and retrospective and prospective testing of hedge relationships
- Design and roll-out a refreshed financial control environment across the BOQ Group
- Embed new team structure and standardise team tasks in line with the Financial Control process taxonomy
- Continuously improve existing processes, ensuring robust financial control
- Support the Manager, Financial Reporting & Accounting Policy, to contribute to the delivery of Group and Subsidiary statutory financial statements
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to deliver audit requirements
- Management of 2 direct reports (Managers) and a wider team of 13 accountants

**About you**
As an experienced leader within a financial services environment, you will be able to demonstrate at least 10 years' experience in the following areas:

- CA/CPA qualified (or international equivalent)
- Knowledge of Securitised Trust programs preferred
- Detailed knowledge of IFRS accounting standards including IFRS 9 Hedge Accounting
- Demonstrated ability to implement best practice risk management/control frameworks
- Proven leadership and people management experience, including talent development
- Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities across all levels and ability to communicate with influence
- Experience operating and delivering results in a matrix environment and leveraging relationships to influence and drive successful outcomes
- Business and commercial acumen, credibility, reputation and proven track record of success
- Curious mindset with a view to implement continuous improvement
