The Role:
This 12-month fixed-term contract for a Financial Controller presents a valuable opportunity within our expanding business. We are always keen to identify and retain talented individuals, and whilst this specific role is fixed-term, we would certainly be open to exploring potential future opportunities across the organisation as they emerge. You will lead end-to-end financial management, ensuring robust accounting practices and delivering timely, accurate reporting across the Auto & General Group, maintaining a best-practice control environment.

Your New Team:
You'll join our hard working and supportive Group Finance team, a crucial part of Auto & General, Australia's fastest-growing major Motor and Home insurer. Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end financial management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
• Deliver timely and accurate monthly management reporting, including capital and cashflow reporting, statutory reporting, and consolidation.
• Manage the Finance team and foster capability development.
• Support and assess new business initiatives, ensuring they meet all finance, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
• Assist in the business planning and forecasting process.
• Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining financial accounting processes, and documenting changes.
• Coordinate the annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, and CPA/CA qualified.
• At least 10 years of experience in an accounting role within a commercial or chartered environment.
• A strong understanding of business processes and internal controls related to accounting, finance, and wider business practices.
• Strong technical grounding with deep knowledge of AASB and APRA regulatory standards.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong experience working in an ERP environment; TM1 and financial modelling experience would be advantageous but not essential.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with and influence multiple stakeholders across all levels.
• A hands-on approach, with the ability to step into detail whilst maintaining oversight.
• Leadership capability to drive change and elevate processes.
