**Eligibility**
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care
applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made
- An applicant’s suitability for employment with Health and Aged Care will also be
assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as:
- Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check,
and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.

**Division Responsibilities**
Part of the Corporate Operations Group, Financial Management Division provides support to
Health and Aged Care through a range of financial and budget management services and
advice, property and asset management, and other corporate services, including shared
services for Health and Aged Care portfolio agencies.
**Branch Responsibilities**
Corporate and Financial Services Branch has operational responsibility for providing cost
- effective corporate services, including payroll, travel and expense management, the call and
information centre, procurement services and advice, and business improvement projects.
Many of these services are provided to Portfolio Agencies in conjunction with other
departments and private sector suppliers.
**Section Responsibilities**
**Financial Services Section**:
The Section provides services to the Department and Portfolio Agencies, including expense
management (travel and credit cards), accounts payable and accounts receivable.
**Procurement Advisory Services Section**:
The Section establishes and maintains the Department’s procurement framework,
undertaking governance and support to ensure procurement activities undertaken across
the Department comply.
**Contact Centre Section**:
The Contact Centre section partners with program, policy, and corporate business areas to
answer community, health provider and employee enquiries about Health and Aged Care
policy, programs, and services through the Contact Centre. Every year more than 400,000
voice of Health and Aged Care to the community.
**Shared Services Relationships Section**:
Health and Aged Care’s Shared Services Relationships Team supports the delivery of the
department’s shared services to portfolio agencies. Through client engagement, the team
provides advice and support to these portfolio agencies. The team coordinates billing to the
portfolio agencies and, also undertakes performance reporting for the department and the
portfolio agencies. The team supports the shared service’s assurance framework, which in
turn supports the portfolio agencies meet their applicable obligations.
**Payroll Services** **Section**:
The Section provides quality end-to-end payroll services to the Department and Portfolio
Agencies.
**GovERP Preparation** **Section**:
The Section is driving and delivering the Health and Aged Care Portfolio’s strategic
requirements for the Government’s shared services agenda, including the adoption of
GovERP, which represents significant change and risk across dimensions of people,
organisation, process, information and technology***
**Key Responsibilities**
General capabilities across Corporate and Financial Services Branch Sections
As members of the Branch senior leadership group, Assistant Directors must demonstrate
capability to:
- deliver timely and accurate corporate services for the relevant Section
- identify key stakeholders and develop strategies for managing and supporting them
through change
- have or build knowledge of relevant legislative, financial and administrative
frameworks that impact the services delivered
- identify and implement processes to improve/automate capabilities that can be
replicated across the branch, including financial reporting.
- identify risks and appropriate management strategies, and monitor controls to
ensure risks are mitigated
- develop and implement team strategic direction
- convey technical/financial information in a clear concise manner to a range of
stakeholders
- build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with clients accessing the
Section’s services, including portfolio agencies in line with
