**About - Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning**

The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is the leading educational and research institution in the Asia-Pacific region addressing the design and realisation of environments. It actively seeks to extend the linkages between education, research, and practice in the built environment, and maintains excellent and extensive relationships with members of the built environment professions, government, professional associations and the wider community.

The Faculty has over 200 staff and 3000 students, one third of whom are international. It is responsible for the undergraduate Bachelor of Design degree, and offers majors in architecture, landscape architecture, property, construction, and urban planning.

The Faculty’s graduate school, the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), teaches accredited masters courses across the professional disciplines of Architecture, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Property, Urban Design and Urban Planning.

**About - Melbourne Centre for Cities**
The way we govern cities, and in turn the way cities contribute to addressing global challenges, is key to ensuring the long-term sustainability of humanity. Yet cities are now confronted with a rapidly changing landscape of international politics, interconnected infrastructures, and shifting economies. Cities can no longer be thought in isolation from each other, and the business of deciding who gets what, when and how in urban development has become a global affair. Focusing on these networked challenges for city leadership, the Melbourne Centre for Cities is a tackling the complexity underpinning urban governance with a focus on information and connectivity.

The Centre works across the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning (ABP), Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science, and the internship will be based in ABP in the Centre’s main offices in the Baldwin Spencer Building. The Centre connects action research, doctoral training and research-driven education on cities, with an explicit focus on urban governance and capacity to engage with different challenges posed by our urban age across health, sustainability, economy and social inclusion. The Centre aims to enhance the University’s capacity to shape a generation of internationally minded early career cities scholars and support their presence in major international venues and debates centred on cities. The Centre drives cross-faculty engagement as prime hub for cities research at the University of Melbourne. It does so on well-established relationships with key local actors like the City of Melbourne, international and multilateral actors such as UN-Habitat, and a growing network of international urban research hubs, allowing for greater expansion of these and new cities-focused partnerships.

**About the Role**
The Melbourne Centre for Cities is looking for a project support officer in urban innovation (Project Officer) for a global project on research and innovation for cities’ climate action. The Project Officer will contribute to a collaboration between the Centre and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) - building and supporting implementation events for the Innovate4Cities (I4C) initiative. The I4C initiative investigates the research and innovation needs and gaps for cities to meet their urban sustainability and climate resilience goals. The Project Officer will assist the Innovate4Cities team at the Melbourne Centre for Cities to coordinate a series of in person and online events associated with City Research and Innovation Agenda, and the Innovate4Cities Conference and Market place events. The Project Officer will also coordinate post event reporting and other relevant publications, and the city research specials of the ClimateTalks podcast, season 3.

Responsibilities include:

- Supporting the delivery of a series of in person and online research and innovation marketplaces - connecting cities with solutions providers, around urban climate challenges.
