Your new job
The Mental Health Clinician is part of our multidisciplinary approach to mental health care for young people. The incumbent is responsible for providing mental health intervention to young people aged 12-25 accessing headspace for support through our Targeted Psychological Support (TPS) service stream.
The Mental Health Clinician will work collaboratively with the broader team and will be responsible for providing psychological services to enhance the physical and mental health outcomes of young people.
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, you will:
- Comprehensive Mental Health Support: Deliver youth-friendly clinical mental health assessments and interventions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with referrers, families, and external providers to facilitate cohesive support and tailored mental health pathways for young people.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate electronic records, meet reporting requirements, and ensure all documentation aligns with headspace and industry standards.
- Professional Standards: Demonstrate sound judgment, participate in research projects, and maintain service targets as required.
- Our headspace sites operate after 5pm multiple times a week, availability to work across rotating shifts required._
What you’ll need
You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline;
- Psychologists must have full general registration with AHPRA.
- Social workers must hold or be eligible for AASW Mental health accreditation.
- Occupational Therapists must be registered with AHPRA, have Better Access endorsement or 2 years minimum experience in mental health to provide psychological services in the TPS stream.
- Appropriate to level of experience and with ongoing supervision able to demonstrate competence in provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments; risk assessment and crisis intervention/safety planning; evidence based individual and group interventions to young people experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems.
- Demonstrated ability to determine and plan for a young person’s recovery and support needs, employing a shared decision-making approach.
