**The Role**

An EL1 Contract Manager will lead and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes. In a fast paced environment, these roles require initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to review and adjust priorities and work activities to meet business outcomes.

EL 1 Contract Managers will manage one or more teams. They will develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators, and review individual, team and business performance, focusing on identifying opportunities for building team capability and continuous improvement. They will set work that aligns with the strategic objectives, and communicate expected outcomes.

EL 1 Contract Managers will be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.

**About our Team**
NMPB delivers commercial expertise and solutions for procurement and contracting across the procurement life cycle to help Defence meet its objectives, maximise value for money outcomes and meet legislative and mandatory policy requirements.

As a branch of high performing individuals, teams work closely together to provide sound and timely advice to support both simple and complex procurement projects. In addition to supporting procurements, the teams review and refine best practice procurement and contracting processes to ensure adherence to regulatory and legislative frameworks.

As executive managers, Contracting Managers are expected to provide effective mentoring, and a supportive working environment, to encourage the growth and development of team members to reach their full potential.

Contracting Managers are expected to champion and model exemplary workplace behaviours, with commitment to demonstrating, upholding and promoting the Defence Values and Behaviours, the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
- Managing and supporting procurement processes and practices to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks;
- Managing and ensuring compliance with government probity principles;
- The identification and mitigation of procurement, probity and contract management related risks;
- Preparation of procurement, probity and contracting related documents for all phases of procurement activities; and
- Participating in evaluation, negotiation and debriefing processes.

Commercial awareness, highly developed interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team and knowledge of Commonwealth procurement policies are also highly valued.
