Operational Risk Advisor

**About the Role**

Reporting to our fabulous Senior Partner Operational Risk - Information Security, this role has the responsibility for providing information security risk guidance and oversight, whilst partnering with divisions across the group to constructively challenge ideas, promote diversity of thought and confidently provide best practice advice in relation to information security, including Cyber.

This role will also contribute to ensuring the Operational Risk Management Frameworks (ORMF) is adequately managed, maintaining compliance to related information security risk management regulatory obligations across the BOQ Group.

Some of the exciting and challenging stuff you’ll be involved with are:

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct risk assessments.
- Maintain and perform monitoring and oversight controls - compliant with Operational Risk Frameworks.
- Participate in projects as the information security risk management SME
- Support teams with training to support, embedding best practice information security practices.
- Lead through effective partnering by providing advice, challenge and reporting and insights, to information security risks (current and emerging) across the Group.
- Partner with peers to continuously improve information security risk.

**About you**
As an experienced Operational Risk Advisor, you’ll join us with exposure to Operational Risk within the banking and financial services landscape but with a SME lens within IT security, including the world of cyber. Yip - you live and breathe all things IT Risk and join us with a passion, and experience of, elevating the maturity of a risk culture within a business. You come armed with a wealth of Operational Risk knowledge, partnering with teams for a successful uptake.

We operate in a highly regulated, ever-changing environment so we are seeking a ‘think outside the box’ kinda thinker who thrives on change, problem solving on the fly. Collaboration and partnership come naturally to you - you know how to convert IT jargon into layman terms - and you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, participating, and promoting cooperative working relationships across the organisation.

As an outcome-driven Risk professional you enjoy proactively communicating with the business to understand and reach their vision. With your experience in Operational Risk and IT security, you’re the go-to for all things involved with regulator priorities, prudential standards and legislation relating to the IT security banking world.

Other things that could come in handy in this role are:

- A deep understanding of information security (including cyber security) principles, processes, and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in conducting risk and scenario assessments.
- Extensive experience partnering with business functions.
- Working collaboratively across divisions to uplift risk maturity.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to information security (including cyber).
- Experience partnering with business functions and working collaboratively across 3 lines of defence to uplift information security capabilities.
