**The Team**

**The Role**
- Promote a positive safety and wellbeing culture.
- Manage the wellbeing and safety action plans, and WHS framework.
- Provide authoritative and specialist information and advice on current and emerging safety/injury management/ rehabilitation, workers compensation issues to Executives and key staff within the Ombudsman and related government agencies to ensure issues are satisfactorily resolved or addressed.
- Provide guidance, advice and case management of non-work related illness/injury cases, including analysing health/medical information, and best practice industry standards to make critical decisions in relation to capacity for members to perform their role, and the development of health management plans (return to work, recovery and reasonable workplace adjustments).
- Provide guidance, advice and case management of workers compensations cases, including liaising with employees, insurers and health/medical providers in relation to capacity for members to perform their role, and the development of health management plans (return to work, recovery and reasonable workplace adjustments).
- Provide best practice advisory and management of the WHS and wellbeing activities, and acts as a consultancy service to all levels of staff, promoting WHS/wellbeing and increasing awareness; as well as being responsible for the initiation, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive wellbeing and safety programme, provides statistical information and analysis and implements appropriate preventative strategies.
- Conduct the annual wellbeing and safety audits.
- Management of WHS incident to ensure rigour is applied, and corrective actions drive continuous improvements.
- Build and embed a safety culture by partnering with managers and business units to provide advice and recommendations on WHS risk, audit and incident investigation matters to facilitate effective decision making.
- Develop and support the implementation of best practice wellbeing and mental health models and programs.
- Provide reporting on relevant WHS data and performance metrics.
- Work closely with key stakeholders including P&C Business Partners and people leaders to provide support and technical guidance to the business and ensure programs are effectively implemented and maintained
- Be responsible for workers compensation, return to work and case management
- Develop return to work programs for both work and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Manage WHS audits and investigations to ensure effective control of risk and mitigate and report on identified risks.

**About you**
- Sound working knowledge and experience in contemporary WHS legislation and practice, including health and wellbeing initiatives or programs, within a complex organisation
- Formal qualifications, or significant experience in WHS and wellbeing
- Working knowledge of workers compensation, rehabilitation and return to work.
- Exercises sound judgement and discretion when dealing with sensitive and complex safety and wellbeing matters.
