**Position overview**

The Manager, Building Codes and Standards provides expert technical and regulatory advice in the delivery of State Building Surveyor functions, with a focus on developing improvements to national building and plumbing standards, providing strategic advice to the Minister on significant strategic and regulatory issues, binding determinations and analysing trends to develop technical and regulatory solutions.

The role involves the provision of technical leadership in building surveying practices. The Manager will contribute to the continuous improvement of building standards and legislation in Victoria and the resolution of complex issues through analysis, thought leadership and the provision of expert advice and problem solving.

This role will be responsible for the implementation and/or ongoing delivery expert advice, policy and strategy responses relating to matters impacting the sector.

**What we are looking for**:

- Current Victorian registration as a Building Surveyor Unlimited (BSU) with no conditions.
- Makes rational and sound decisions based on a consideration of the facts and alternatives; makes tough decisions, sometimes with incomplete information; evaluates rational and emotional elements of situations; makes quick decisions where required; commits to a definite course of action.
- Leadership skills gained from experience as a private and/or municipal building surveyor, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated strong experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and delivering programs that achieve strategic outcomes.
