About the role
The Young Parents Program provides safe and nurturing residential accommodation and outreach for young parents aged 13 to 25 with complex needs. We use an evidence-based, child-centred and therapeutically-informed approach to help young parents build independence and confidence.
In this position you will support young parents aged 13-18 years and their children who are living in the Residential Stage of the Young Parents Program to work towards their case plan goals. You will work with very young parents with complex needs and behaviours to develop independent parenting and living skills, through the provision of integrated, individualised case management, behaviour support and direct parenting support to ensure best possible outcomes for children.
You will provide practical daily and emotional support to all families in the residence with guidance by case managers.
You will have the ability to work flexible hours including sleepover shifts.
What you will bring
- Experience in Social Work, Community Development, Early Childhood, Welfare, Health or related discipline
- Professional experience in the community sector, including direct client work addressing complex needs
- Understanding of case management, strengths based and client centred practice and best practice interventions to promote meaningful change for young people and their families
- Demonstrated understanding of child protection and child development needs, including best practice when working with vulnerable children, adolescents and families
- Commitment to culturally competent practice, ongoing learning and direct experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torre Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families and communities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office or similar software and experience using databases
- Working with Children Check and Driver Licence are mandatory requirements of this role

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 3. Hourly rate from $37.36 + casual loading + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
