Part-Time (0.6 - 0.8 FTE), 12 Month Contract

SAHMRI is located on the lands of the Kaurna people who are the traditional custodians of Adelaide and the greater Adelaide region. SAHMRI works with traditional custodians across South Australia, Australia, and globally. This role is required to collaborate with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on the lands of all traditional custodians across South Australia, Australia and potentially globally.

Wardliparingga Aboriginal Health Equity Theme is a nation leading research unit focused on research and its translation with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders on health and wellbeing among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.

Join Aboriginal Health Equity in delivering on the important and rewarding research that Wardliparingga is doing with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in South Australia and across the Nation. Specifically, this position will provide high level research support to the implementation of new research focused on eliminating racism within health and medical training institutions and organisations that deliver health and medical services.

This position’s purpose is to conduct and contribute high quality research in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health that leads to improved health and social outcomes for the population. Specifically, under the direction of the Program Lead, the position will undertake rigorous research to a high standard.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the Program Lead with the coordination, recruitment, development and preparation for implementation of research activities.
- Providing high-quality research support to project team members to successfully achieve research milestones and outputs.
- Preparing resources and/documentation required to successfully keep collaborating organisations, research partners and Chief Investigators engaged and informed.
- Promote scholarship and integrity and support a culture of excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research.

**ABOUT YOU**
- A post-graduate degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, or a related discipline as well as demonstrated experience contributing to research projects.
- Knowledge, experience, and skills in a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Ability to take direction and support members of the team to carry out research activities and achieve milestones.
- A strong academic writing ability.
- Demonstrated ability to enhance the research profile of the Population Health Platform and Theme by conducting research and/scholarly activity, independently and/or as a member of a team, which results in securing competitive funding and publications in refereed journals.

Special Requirements
- Some out of hours work may be required.
- Travel interstate and intrastate, including to urban, regional or remote parts of South Australia
- DCSI Vulnerable Persons Employment Screening may be required.
- All employees are required to be immunised in accordance with the requirements of the Hospital in which they are working or be willing to be vaccinated at the cost of the Institute.
