An exciting opportunity exists for a Machine Operator person to join our Health Support Services team at the Western Health Central Production Kitchen in Altona, providing quality and nutritionally balanced meals to hospitals and councils’ delivered meals program. The position is a Full Time 80 hour/fortnight position.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team contributing to the achievement of the effective production and delivery of meals from the Central Food Production Kitchen to its customers.

This role is in the Assembly area of the operation. The role of the Machine Operator is to assist in overseeing the Assembly process and operating equipment and machinery including, but not limited to, sealing lines, retorts, check weighers and metal detectors, soup filler machines and tray label printers. The Machine Operator may also be required to work in any of the other sections to lend a helping hand during periods of staff shortages.

The Machine Operator is responsible to maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic workplace and follow the directions of the Team Leader by carrying out the tasks as detailed in the Position Description.

**To be successful in this Role you must have the following criteria**:

- Retort Supervisor Course or;
- Certificate 3 in Food Processing or equivalent or;
- Safe Food Handling Certificate for Health Industry or equivalent or;
- Recognised experience, training or prior learning.
- Be available to work from Monday - Friday between 6:30am and 5:00pm.
- Be able to work both independently and in a team.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have intermediate computer skills to navigate through the menu ordering software.
- Demonstrate a positive proactive attitude and be self-driven.
- Be able to work under pressure and readily adapt to change.
- Have attention to detail and adhere to processes in place.
