About the Role:
We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join our growing team. This isn't just about buying stuff - it's about building relationships with suppliers both locally and internationally, finding the best deals, and keeping our supply chain running like a well-oiled machine. You'll be our point person for international imports, particularly from our Asian suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Handle end-to-end procurement processes, including international imports
- Negotiate with local and international suppliers to secure competitive pricing and terms
- Manage relationships with overseas vendors, particularly in Asia
- Process and track international orders from placement through to delivery
- Handle customs documentation and ensure compliance with import regulations
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and shipping companies
- Process and reconcile international invoices and payment terms
- Track and analyse spending patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, delivery schedules, and inventory levels
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
- Monitor market trends and identify potential supply chain risks
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Australian procurement regulations, and international trade requirements
- Process purchase orders and manage supplier contracts
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and timelines

What You'll Bring:

- 3+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing
- Experience with international importing, preferably with Asian suppliers
- Understanding of international shipping terms, customs procedures, and import regulations
- Strong negotiation skills (the kind that get results, not just good deals)
- Solid understanding of supply chain management
- Experience with procurement software such as Excel and ERP systems preferably Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Sharp analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills - you'll be dealing with everyone from international suppliers to senior management
- Ability to work across different time zones and cultures

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- CIPS certification is highly regarded but not essential
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with international trade documentation is a plus

What We Offer:

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
