An exciting fixed-term opportunity exists for a Project Officer, Youth Justice Operational Procedures in Operational Reform.

**What does Operational Reform do?**

The Operational Reform team within Youth Justice leads the development and delivery of high-priority reforms to Youth Justice custodial operations. The team is responsible for leading operational policy reform in consultation with Custodial Operations executives, staff, key stakeholders, and young people, and providing project management of operational reforms. The team is also responsible for development, oversight and review of all Operating Policies and Procedures within the Youth Justice Custodial Manual.

**What does the Project Officer do?**

Reporting to the Manager Operational Reform, the Project Officer will operate within a complex and dynamic environment, and will be responsible for reviewing, developing, and preparing custodial operating policies and procedures, that are compliant with relevant legislation, the Child Safe Standards and the Charter of Human Rights.

This role will require the incumbent to work from a Youth Justice precinct and may involve contact with young people.

In addition, the Project Officer will be responsible for:

- Assist in the development and writing of the Youth Justice Custodial Operating Manual, liaising with Operational Staff and stakeholders as required to develop Operating Policies and Operating Procedures.
- Prepare documentation for consultation with stakeholders, key decision-making bodies, and senior executives, and support the implementation of agreed outcomes.
- Research, analyse and prepare clear written materials including policy and procedural papers and presentations.

**What skills should a Project Officer have?**
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing, including the development of complex reports, briefings and Operational Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian Government administrative processes.
- Demonstrated experience in using systems and processes to monitor progress.
- Knowledge of current policy direction, research and issues within youth justice or the criminal justice system more broadly, or the ability to understand these issues quickly.
- A full and current driver's license.

A tertiary qualification related to criminology, project management, policy or social welfare is also desirable.

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
