**The team**

The role sits within our Network Maintenance branch and more specifically the Operational Technology Unit. The Operational Technology Unit is responsible for ensuring high availability of control systems, wireless and fixed voice and data networks, condition monitoring and passenger information infrastructure.

The unit comprises of highly skilled technical field resources, technical specialists and maintenance engineers whose roles are to ensure the reliability of these systems are maintained and that system configuration is monitored and managed for the life of these systems.

Drones (Aerial Operations) sits under Wireless & Systems Operations within Operational Technology.

**The opportunity**

The purpose of this role is to ensure an operational Remote Piloted Aircraft (RPA) environment is maintained for Sydney Trains. This includes but is not limited to, ensuring all RPA flights meet Rail safety standards and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations, maintaining RPA documents (safety, procedures, and standards) and drone operator qualifications, and ensuring RPA fleets are maintained and fit for operational use. Key accountabilities include:

- Maintaining the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator's Certificate (ReOC) for Sydney Trains, in accordance with CASA legislation and Sydney Trains RPAS operational requirements
- Updating and maintaining RPA operations manuals to ensure compliance with the RPA Standard Operation Conditions (SOC) requirements
- Reviewing and approving all RPAS operations from internal and external contractors across the Sydney Trains network to ensure compliance
- Monitoring and reviewing Sydney Trains drone operator qualifications to ensure drone operators maintain appropriate and current qualifications.

**?About you**

We are looking for an individual who has demonstrated experience in managing an RPA Operators Certificate (ReOC) as well as knowledge of the Civil Aviation Safety regulations 1998 (CASR) part 101 and international RPA standards.

You’ll have experience in inspecting infrastructure assets using an RPA (such as civil infrastructure, electrical infrastructure, communications infrastructure, geotechnical) and experience or knowledge of working or operating equipment (plant or otherwise) in a rail environment is highly desirable. You’ll have previously used RPA software to manage data retrieved from RPA flights and data visualisation.

A great communicator, you have the ability to successfully navigate multiple stakeholders with ease and you’re also adept at leadership with demonstrated experience in leading a team of RPA pilots.

It is essential for this role that applicants hold a valid Remote Pilot License (RePL) for over 5 years as well as a current NSW C-class driver’s licence.

**Salary and benefits**

The salary for this position is RC Grade 6 ($127,559 - 141,442) per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
