About the role

Defectech is inviting expressions of interest from experienced drone pilots to join our partner network, supporting photogrammetry capture and defect‑focused inspection workflows for clients across the built environment.​

Engagements are project‑based and scheduled across Australian metro and regional locations, with standardised briefs, data handover, and clear deliverables.​

What you'll do

  • Execute flight plans to capture photo sets optimised for photogrammetry and inspection clarity.​
  • Follow capture briefs, naming conventions, and handover checklists for consistent downstream processing.​
  • Operate safely within CASA regulations and site requirements, maintaining logs and documentation.​
  • Manage data offload and secure upload within specified timeframes.​
  • Communicate site constraints, environmental conditions, and deviations promptly.​

Must‑have criteria

  • Current RePL (Remote Pilot Licence).​
  • Demonstrated experience capturing imagery for photogrammetry, including overlap discipline and exposure consistency.​
  • Active third‑party insurance and public liability cover suitable for commercial UAV operations.​
  • Reliable, well‑maintained UAV platform(s) and accessories appropriate for mapping/inspection missions.​
  • Portfolio or sample deliverables showcasing mapping/inspection flights.​
  • Strong adherence to safety, compliance, and data‑handling standards.​

Nice to have

  • Experience with GCPs/RTK, inspection checklists, LiDAR, Matterport/360 cameras and 3D workflows.​
  • Familiarity with asset management or construction documentation processes.​
