About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior RPAS Pilot to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

This role will support the delivery and coordination of safe, compliant, and effective Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) operations across NPWS. The role works closely with the Team Leader RPAS and/or the Chief Remote Pilot to implement operational systems, manage key documentation and compliance processes, and ensure readiness for flight operations across the state.

About You

- 5+ years of experience within a commercial or public RPAS operations, ideally operating EVLOS, BVLOS and Agricultural Spraying or other complex operations.

- Prior experience in the use of RPAS software to manage data retrieved from RPA flights and data visualisation.

- Extensive experience in a similar role and operating environment.

- Specific Operational Risk Assessment training or experience.

- Proven experience in operational planning.

- Experience in the RPAS operation for image sensing and/or remote sensing.

Essential requirements

- Comprehensive knowledge of the CASA Regulations and Orders that affect EES’s ReOC Air Operator Certificate and of the responsibilities of a Chief Remote Pilot and the ability to perform these responsibilities.

- A Remote Pilot Licence or equivalent approved by CASA for the operations of remotely piloted aircraft in regulatory operations undertaken by NPWS/DCCEEW

- Qualify as a Chief remote pilot through CASA assessment, including holding a valid RePL 25kg multi rotor, heavy 25kg Powered lift endorsement issued by CASA, and an aviation radio qualification AROC or the ability to obtain.

- Eligibility to be approved as a Chief RPAS Controller for EES RPAS operations by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

- A current NSW C-class driver’s licence or equivalent.

- Ability and willingness to travel and undertake RPAS operations in remote areas of NSW.
