About the Business Unit
Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) is Victoria's consumer regulator. Our vision is a fair and competitive marketplace in Victoria.

- register and license organisations and occupations
- ensure compliance with consumer laws, and
- review and advise government about Victoria's consumer protection framework.

**Regulatory Services includes the following**:

- Information and Analysis - provides strategic and operational intelligence and analysis to the organisation, and manages CAV's compliance data and other information.
- Investigation Services - delivers compliance and enforcement functions including investigating businesses and individuals alleged to have breached consumer protection law in Victoria.
- Regulatory Transaction Services - provides CAV's licence and registration processing function, maintains and regulates non-profit and business entities, and manages a range of public and non-public registers.
- Performance and Outcomes - ensures Regulatory Services is contributing to CAV's outcomes framework as well as overseeing strategic project delivery and continuous improvement practice.

About the Role
The role of an Aboriginal Liaison Officer
- The Regulatory Transaction Services (RTS) provides business and occupational licensing and not-for-profit registration services to Victorians.
- Reporting to the Business Services Manager, the Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) is charged with: improving access to Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) services and information for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers; delivering consumer education programs, and developing and maintaining effective relationships with Aboriginal communities in Victoria.
- A key focus of the ALO's role is to assist Aboriginal Victorians to comply with legislation relating to the operation of cooperatives, incorporated associations and other CAV administered regulatory schemes. This will include liaising with committee and general members of incorporated associations and cooperatives and representing CAV and the department more broadly in meetings and community forums.
- This role involves occasional travel within Victoria.

About You
- Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community. Knowledge of the content and administration of CAV administered legislation, including cooperatives and incorporated associations.
- Capacity to liaise successfully with Aboriginal communities.
- Business and legal qualifications would be highly regarded, however, there are no mandatory qualifications for this position.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

- COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)
- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
