**About the role**:
As the Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO) within our Ngarra Jarra Aboriginal Health Unit, you will support Aboriginal patients, families, and carers through the provision of cultural support, advocacy, liaison, and discharge planning. You’ll ensure patients in contact with the hospital have access to services internal to Austin and externally, such as GP’s, community health, mainstream and Aboriginal services.

You will also help to ensure that Austin Hospital is culturally sensitive, safe, and welcoming to Aboriginal Peoples and the community. In conjunction with other Aboriginal Health Unit team members and the Team Leader, you will assist with developing and delivering culturally sensitive policies, practices, and training across Austin Health.

At the level of Senior AHLO, you would also work in conjunction with the Team Leader to take a lead role in:

- Building collaborative working relationships with the community and Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations
- Quality improvement activities and hospital accreditation activity
- Policy and practice development and ensuring continuous service monitoring

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Relevant experience in a similar or related role
- A relevant qualification or training in the health or related field
