**The Role**
To provide the ADF with the capability edge that is required in our rapidly changing geopolitical environment, DSTG enables and coordinates support from across the national innovation ecosystem, including research capability from Universities, Defence Industry and Publically Funded Research Agencies (PFRAs).

This role is based within Partnerships Branch, which is directly responsible for developing and managing DSTG's stakeholder engagement at the national level and strategically leverage and Develop expertise and facilities to support the development of Defence capability.

As the APS6 University Partnership Officer, you will assist the Assistant Director, University Partnerships, to manage our existing and new university partnerships, curate the ongoing executive dialogues with each university and assist with the implementation and updating of the Defence Science Partnering contractual framework.

You will be required to develop strong internal relationships with Scientific and Technical (S&T) personnel to support them execute external engagement programs that build and maintain positive relationships with the university’s academic and business development stakeholders.

As the APS6 University Partnerships Officer, you will also be responsible for managing and recording strategic university engagement activities, assist with the preparation of executive summaries and ministerial briefs, resolve university queries, manage the scoping and development of external agreements, and assisting with the drafting of correspondence, reports and online resources.

You will be a great communicator with technical and scientific knowledge and an appreciation of the business environment.

**About our Team**
National Partnerships is part of the Partnerships Branch wihin Science Engagement and Impact Division (SEID). Our Division enhances DSTG's impact developing collaborations with Australian partners across industry (including small to medium enterprises), academia (universities) and publicly funded research agreements (PFRAs). We lead the development of stakeholder engagement across these areas and manage the data on our engagement activities for reporting purposes.

National Partnerships contributes to building Defence's capabilities by promoting strategically-driven national partnerships and collaborative activities between DSTG and domestic partners through developing and coordinating frameworks to enable engagement activities and bilateral and mulitlateral arrangements.
- Be engaging, collaborative and able to liaise with stakeholders from across Defence and other agencies.
- Be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment with the ability to provide input into significant stakeholder activity in short time frames.
- Be a team player with the ability to work seamlessly and efficiently with the other team members.
- Be highly organised and able to manage their time and workload appropriately.
- Have experience or an active interest in developing the skills required to draft and negotiate collaborative arrangements.

The position reports to the EL1 Assistant Director, University Partnerships and has no direct reports. It is required to work across the branch with Partnership Officers in our other areas of engagement - industry and PFRAs (including co-operative research centres).
