**About Us**:
Aspley Special School is a Year 7 to 12 school with two sub-schools - Junior and Senior. Aspley Special School is located within the Metropolitan Region of the Queensland Department of Education. Aspley Special School is one of only four Special Schools in the state of Queensland that provides programs exclusively for secondary aged students with disabilities and is unique in that it is the only Special School in the Brisbane City Council area with this focus.
**About the Role**:
As the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals.
**About You**:
- This position will be suited to an energetic and future-focused individual who has the ability to balance the competing agendas of this multifaceted role to positively influence student learning outcomes and school culture.
- Your leadership skills need to have a student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, teacher aides, therapists, administration staff, parents, caregivers, external agencies and the community.
- You should have strong organisational, management and interpersonal skills.
- An extensive knowledge of the P-10 Australian Curriculum, QCIA, VET Certificate 1 and ASDAN courses, PATH & SET planning will be highly regarded.
