Mamamia is on the lookout for a Features Editor to join our best-in-class Editorial team.
But first, here's a bit about us.
Mamamia is Australia's largest women's media company.
Our core purpose is to make the world a better place for women and girls. That's what guides everything we do. And we do a lot. Mamamia reaches seven million women each month across our written, video, audio, and social platforms and we have the largest women's podcast network in the world.
**What we're looking for.**
As the Features Editor, you will be an integral part of Mamamia's content team, bringing our signature storytelling to life across all digital platforms. Collaborating closely with our editorial team, you'll write, brief and edit compelling narratives for the Mamamia website and be responsible for our subscription content, while managing our submissions program and commissioning quality features. You will also be in charge of the written content for our flagship podcasts including No Filter, MID, True Crime Conversations, But Are You Happy?, and The Quicky. Working within our rotating roster, you'll help create distinctive, high-impact content that resonates with our audience.
**Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us**:
- Lead our news and features content team, running pitch meetings and bringing fresh, bold ideas to life
- Be our storytelling superstar - commissioning and editing compelling long-form pieces that make our readers think, feel and connect
- Grow our subscriber base by managing compelling subscription content
- Champion our investigations calendar and special series, working with marquee talent and top writers and industry experts to deliver content that cuts through
- Work collaboratively with our podcast team to produce written content for No Filter, MID, True Crime Conversations, But Are You Happy? and The Quicky
- Nurture our submissions inbox into a goldmine of authentic voices and unique perspectives, while securing must-read book extracts
- Lead and mentor our talented news and features team, helping them craft stories that pop while maintaining Mamamia's distinctive voice and high editorial standards
- Keep your finger on the pulse of what our audience loves, using insights to develop innovative content strategies that keep them coming back for more
**Now, a bit about you.**
- Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Media & Communications (or similar)
- Minimum 7 years experience in editorial roles, with specific experience in features journalism
- Ability to work flexibly across our rotating roster system
- Proven track record in managing long-form content and investigative pieces
- Strong understanding of media law and journalistic ethics
- Experience in leading editorial teams and managing writers
**Life at Mamamia.**
We're fast-paced, innovative, and deeply collaborative. Mamamia feels small enough that you can create real and tangible change, but has the structure to support your ideas with experienced and industry-leading teams, and deliver them to an audience of millions of women every month.
We have a startup spirit within a scaled-up business structure and we're incredibly proud of the culture and community we've created. Our team is inclusive, passionate, and fun (..although apparently, not very modest about it); many lifelong friendships and connections have been forged in Mamamia HQ.
But enough about us, let's talk about how we can help you. At Mamamia, we want to support all of our staff in kicking as many career goals as possible so that's why we'll support you in getting involved in the things you're actually interested in. Think you might want to broaden your scope? Get exposure to another team in the business? Try something new and develop your skills? We'll help you make it happen and cheer you on the whole way.
On top of all that, Mamamia also offers:
- Flexible working conditions (Hybrid working model)
- A day off to celebrate your birthday
- Additional leave for years of service, plus annual rewards to celebrate your work anniversaries
- Paid parental leave
- Enjoy paid volunteer leave to support RizeUp, our charity partner.
- The opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company and help us make the world a better place for women and girls.
- Access to MOVE by Mamamia-our exclusive platform offering a range of workouts you can do anytime, anywhere, with no equipment needed.
