**The Role**
Reporting to the Area Maintenance Supervisor, we are looking for a Maintenance Officer for our facility at Ozanam Residential at Garran. We are offering this position on part time basis (3 days) 7.6 hrs per day Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with flexible start times.
- You will be responsible in providing basic general maintenance repairs (electrical & plumbing, carpentry and building)
- You will also be providing gardening maintenance tasks (sweeping, hosing, keeping the outside of buildings clean and tidy, mowing lawns, hedging and general garden maintenance)
- Will communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families, being empathetic and understanding of the needs of aged residents
- Undertake and oversee Preventative Maintenance relating to buildings, property and assets in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Calendar specific to each location.
- Undertake and oversee Reactive Maintenance relating to buildings, property and assets as directed across the designated area of responsibility
- Monitor and action all Maintenance works to ensure regulatory compliance across the designated area of responsibility.
- Contributing positively to team work to achieve operational outcomes and promote a positive SCC workplace culture in alignment with SCC Values, Mission and Vision.
- Being able to liase and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external to ensure effective and efficient workflow.
- To Comply with and contribute to Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.

- Trade qualification (desirable)
- Current driver's license
- Previous experience in either building, fitter and turner, welder or plumber (desirable)
- Experience as a Maintenance Person in Aged Care or similar industry (desirable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication with interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of people
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
- Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a residential care setting
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationship with residents and/or families/representatives
- Able to provide evidence of COVID-19 & influenza vaccinations.
