**The Role**
Within the Logistics Management function an APS5 Warehousing and Distribution Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex inventory management work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
An APS5 Warehousing and Distribution Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the Logistics Management function area based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and clerical support work to achieve results.
The APS5 Warehousing and Distribution Officer may coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.
The APS5 Warehousing and Distribution Officer will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
The duties of an APS5 Warehousing and Distribution Officer include the following:
- Accountable for inventory management through the use of information management systems and responding to inventory requests;
- Coordinate maintenance and repair on inventory in accordance with the supply chain manual;
- Compose responses to correspondence, briefs and reports on inventory management activities;
- Use experience to provide advice on inventory management to stakeholders;
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities;
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback;
- Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks;
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.

Joint Logistics Unit (West) provides a range of logistics support to all Australian Defence Units located in Western Australia. - Experience working in a similar role ensuring the alignment of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks;
- Experience in successfully managing complex logístical tasks that demonstrate a high degree of inventory accuracy, accountability and transparency;
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines;
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, especially in preparing responses to correspondence, briefs and reports for management;
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective relationships with team members and key stakeholders to achieve desired results.
