Are you a new or experienced FACEM looking for a move to the tropics? How about a tertiary ED with next to no ambulance ramping, no registrar vacancy, specialising in all patient demographics, in a tropical city, overlooking an island with enviable winter temperatures.

Up to 12 month appointments for secondment and long service leave backfill. With options for longer term extensions for those who never want to leave.

Join the consultant team in the adult and paediatric mixed Emergency Department of the Townsville University Hospital. TUH ED is one of the biggest and busiest Emergency Departments in Queensland, providing emergency care to the residents of the greater Townsville area, as well as being the major referral centre for the whole of North Queensland. We manage 100,000 presentations per year, 20% paediatric presentations, 30% First Nations patient population, with an overall admission rate of 30% and 95% of patients meeting ambulance off-stretcher targets.

As a TUH ED staff specialist you will have clinical exposure to the adult and paediatric areas of the ED and short stay unit, in additional to aeromedical retrieval clinical coordination, geriatric emergency care and the education and mentoring of FACEMs of the future.
