This senior Business Governance & Controls role is responsible for assisting both CPS230 delivery and the day to day execution of business risks and control activities across Banking Services. It involves instilling an innovative approach to risk, quality, assurance and incident management, and balancing these with a commercial appreciation for the objectives of the CPS230 and Banking Services projects/businesses. This includes operational risk identification, managing compliance with obligations, event management, business risk forum reporting, facilitation of audit preparation, project review, governance and stakeholder management.

The main purpose of this position is to ensure CPS230 and Banking Services (which consists of Group Services, Group Payments and Payment Industry) alignment with the enterprise-wide Non-Financial Risk requirements and framework. The role supports operational risk and compliance management, including articulation of the operational risk profile and risk appetite.

What will your day look like?

**Financial**:
Maintain an appropriate operating risk management strategy and framework to ensure that operating risks are effectively identified, assessed, treated and monitored in line with the BS risk appetite.
Work with Banking Services management to pursue cost effective, innovative and competitive strategies to manage risks which contribute to improving business performance.
Deliver year on year improvements in the production, efficiency, quality and cost of operations by identifying improvements in practices and procedures.

**Customer**:
Work collaboratively with business to ensure risks associated with change are clearly articulated and appropriately approved
Manage stakeholder engagement across Banking Services to gain buy-in and support.
Act as the key conduit between the wider Risk Management Team and the business as first line of defence.
Actively engage and develop relationships, and develop a strong understanding of network needs and priorities to ensure risk management and compliance strategies are aligned and comply with all laws, regulations and rules impacting the business.
Ensure outcomes from assurance reviews are identified and drive the implementation of fixes into the process

**Process**:
Ensure material operational risk initiatives and policies are implemented and embedded across the business, including also initiatives to enhance quality and risk culture across the business.
Provide expertise to the business so they can develop and implement processes for (i) risk assessment, treatment, monitoring and reporting, (ii) audit issue tracking (iii) treatment, events, audit and risk register tracking
Coordinate completion of required operating risk reporting and returns to stakeholders including Business and Risk Executive (incorporating a continuous improvement focus).
Champion the reporting on operational & compliance losses and events as per COR/NFR Hub, OREC guidelines and SLA's.

**People**:
Interpret Control testing results and impact to the business risk profile and liaise with the business around testing
Build strong relationships with the Banking Services portfolio teams as a trusted, value-adding business partner.
Contribute to the leadership the BG&C team and the development of a diverse talent pool and robust succession plan.

**Risk/compliance/behaviours**:
Leads by example, complying with ANZ Operational Risk & Compliance policies and practices.
Influence improvement of incident logging by business in the appropriate systems within required timeframe and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are taken.
Perform risk assessments for new initiatives, process, products and business.
Co-ordinate your business’ response to issues raised by internal and/or external governance stakeholders (including Audit and regulators) to ensure that appropriate actions are identified, ownership assigned and monitored for completion.
Maintain risk register using appropriate systems and highlight high and extreme risks.
Provide direction and guidance on the implementation of Service Based Operating Model
