**About this opportunity**

Yarra Trams requires a Human Factors Lead to provide leadership capability to our business on complex and critical Human Factors issues to identify, develop and implement systems, processes and programs to meet operational requirements, mitigate risk and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Reporting to the Director, Manager, this role involves:

- Determining the desired level of Human Factors integration in Yarra Trams with respect to external practice, international and local standards
- Providing specialist support within the business, operations, project delivery, investigations, human reliability and error analyses and modelling, and behavioural safety and non-technical skills development
- Identifying and develop strategic programs, policies and procedures for monitoring, assessment and integration of Human Factors through the business
- Contributing to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Human Factors Integration requirements of the Yarra Trams CDMS in line with contemporary good practice and in order to meet regulatory requirements
- Reporting and analysing Human Factors related performance on specific issues arising from the business or the external environment on behalf of senior management
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, and safety teams, to gather information and support business requirements
- Developing and implementing a Fatigue Management Program looking at work & lifestyle factors, physical health conditions and mental health issues
- Measuring and reporting on performance, trends and outcomes of fatigue management campaigns and awareness trainings.
- Establishing and leading the community of practice for Human Factors across the organisation and provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to other team members.

**About you**

Ideally you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Human Factors/Ergonomics or Applied Psychology (e.g., Industrial, Organisational, Experimental, Cognitive) Other biophysical, psychosocial, technical or allied health science disciplines may be considered if the applicant’s focus in these is relevant to Human Factors/Ergonomics
- Strong knowledge of safety management principles, Human Factors methodologies, and relevant regulations and standards (e.g., Safety Management System (SMS) requirements).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- organisations operating in complex, safety critical operational environments
- Ability to respond to arising issues, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills and possess a high level of interpersonal, negotiating, counselling and diplomacy skills.
