**The Role**

The PBC Directorate is made up of specialists from diverse backgrounds. You may have:

- An engineering or technical background;
- A logistics background;
- A commercial background.

You must have an interest in PBC and an understanding of performance measures relating to commercial arrangements, particularly in relation to Defence sustainment and service based contracts.

This is a unique opportunity to influence commercial strategies for some of Defence’s most complex and interesting capabilities and help ensure complex commercial arrangements achieve the desired outcomes for the Defence Force. You will work across integrated teams providing holistic commercial performance solutions to the internal Defence client base, and will require interaction with industry partners in reaching these solutions.

As the EL 1 Performance Based Contracting (PBC) Specialist Advisor, you will also be responsible for maintaining a suite of guidance on PBC standards, methodologies, tools, knowledge repositories and learning and development programs. You will also have the opportunity to share your knowledge by supporting the delivery of the PBC training program offered at Defence sites across Australia.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. **About our Team**
The PBC Directorate is part of the Commercial Division within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) within Defence. The PBC Directorate develops performance management solutions for complex Defence commercial arrangements relating to the sustainment of Defence platforms, systems and components as well as arrangement delivering key services to the whole of the Defence organisation.

As part of the Commercial Division with CASG the team is part of broader integrated teams delivering commercial solutions within Defence. The team promotes a customer service ethos and strives to meet the challenges of the day.
- An experienced Defence sustainment manager, product manager, services delivery practitioner or contract manager with proven experience delivering innovative commercial Performance Based Contracting outcomes;
- Able to read and interpret the technical parts of Defence sustainment and services contracts;
- Able to learn how to draft technical clauses for Defence procurements;
- An interest in learning to use and develop simple mathematical models to plot contract performance;
- A lateral-thinking problem solver, drawing upon experience to deliver procurement related documentation including templates, schedule, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, contract change proposals and other contract management documentation;
- A leader who demonstrates Defence values and behaviours, able to lead a small team to deliver outcomes;
- An influential communicator, able to develop and present mitigation strategies linking contract management activities, supplier’s performance and compliance with mandatory requirements and tailor messaging to suit the respective audience and situation;
- Able to engage with clients and stakeholders, and respond to complex enquiries and contract management issues, facilitating balanced, fit-for-purpose solutions;
- Committed to knowledge transfer and able to support the delivery of training to Defence and our Defence Industry partners.
