**Position Objective**

The Community Development Officer - Arts & Culture is responsible for implementing arts and culture
projects and events which aim to enhance lifestyle, liveability and resilience across the Shire.
Achievement of this is through engagement with community members and other key stakeholders, to
develop and implement projects which aim to preserve and showcase the Shire’s history and develop
arts and cultural opportunities to benefit both visitors and community members.

As a representative of Council, demonstrated professionalism and a commitment to a high level of

**Key Responsibilities**

**_Project & Event Management _**
- Develop and implement Council run arts and cultural programs and projects which fosters arts

and cultural opportunities in the Flinders Shire
- Liaise and assist local community groups and external stakeholders who are provide arts and

cultural opportunities to the Flinders Shire
- Assist in the project management of strategic initiatives as identified in Council Planning

Documents such as the Arts and Cultural Plan
- Work within the wider Community Services team to deliver other events and projects
- Oversee Council’s historical collection, and activities associated with research, preservation,

display and publishing of the collection
- Coordinate all aspects of Council’s partnership with Arts Queensland in regard to Regional Art

Development Fund (RADF) including the annual funding bid, community grants program,
reporting and acquittal process.
- Provide reporting as required regarding programs and events

**_Financial & Grant Management _**

objectives of Council strategic objectives and planning such as outlined in the Arts and Cultural
Plan
- Monitor relevant budgets, assist in the acquittals, grant reporting and financial reporting

requirements to ensure compliance with funding agreements and legislative requirements are
maintained
- Assistance with Councils community grants, sponsorships and donations programs

**_Community & Stakeholder Engagement _**
- Support Library with enquiries on historical information sought from general public, council

departments or other government departments, if required.
- Support Library with the development and implementation of programming and events to

compliment offerings with a focus on arts and culture
- Assist in the promotion of Council activities to community members
- Provide information, support and advice to community arts organisations and arts practitioners

including information on accessing services and grants programs offered by Council and
external agencies; Source and disseminate information across the Flinders Shire relating to
grant opportunities, sponsorship, corporate partnerships, industry agencies etc.
